THE ROLE :
The Director of Rooms Operations is responsible for creating ridiculously personal experiences for all hotel guests (that’s kinda our thing!). In collaboration with the Front Office and Housekeeping leadership teams, you’ll provide support for the staff by making sure all brand standards are met, employees are developed properly, and ensuring company culture and programs are supported and encouraged.
ACTIVITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for the Director of Rooms Operations include, but are not limited to the following
- A member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Rooms Operations will take on responsibility for development and execution of the Hotel’s strategic plans
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Front Office team, including Manager on Duty responsibilities, and support management of Housekeeping team.
- Assist General Manager in directing and leading all hotel operations ensuring and setting a high level of guest service.
- Prepare the annual budgets and monthly forecast for all areas overseen.
- Support with managing the financial expenses of hotel operations, ensuring that all expenses stay within budget.
- Ensure revenue and inventory management practices are in place so as to maximize revenues for the Hotel.
- Identify capital needs and support maintenance of the overall condition of the hotel.
- Build and innovate guest satisfaction programs for housekeeping and front desk. Assist with reservations and guest inquires, when needed.
- Review team schedules and at times lead all aspects of hotel departments such as Security, Reservations as well as, monitor and maintain property interfaces.
- Lead, train, and develop a team of high performing hotel department managers.
- Work closely with Restaurant, Catering, Sales, and Banquet to ensure that all guest needs are met.
- Liaison with affiliate partners, including but not limited to third party operators, PR agencies, and other operational vendors.
- Personal vehicle to travel locally or to other locations may be required.
- Host Social Hour and provide wine services. Social Hour is a Kimpton brand tradition where we provide local wines to our in-house guests between 5:00pm to 6:00pm every day, each manager of the Hotel will be required to host Social Hour around twice per month.
- Maintain a safe and hazard free work environment.
- Promote the safety and well-being of our guests and co-workers by having a thorough knowledge of the Hotel’s crisis and emergency procedures.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
- Minimum 6 years experience in hotel industry, with at least two years’ leadership experience in both Housekeeping and Front Office department
- In-depth knowledge of front office procedures
- Proficiency with Opera system
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
- Diploma/degree in hotel management is an asset
- Must already be legally permitted to work in Canada
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, developed through researching, evaluating and presenting arguments and data
- Customer Service skills
- Ability to work within deadlines
- Will be required to work in fast paced environment.
